| Mahlangu,
Speelman Makwa |
Speelman,
one of South Africa’s respected artists, won the first
prize in the new signatures competition in 1988, and has continued
to grow over the years.
He began at the Katlehong Art Centre, and has also taught graphics
and sculpture at the Ezebeni Cripple Care Centre.
His work is highly sought after, and he has many international
clients, and has exhibited in Europe, Canada and United States
of America. Two of his last pieces are now in the collection
of the South African High Commissioner in London.
He draws inspiration from mythology and African folklore, and
his powerful images are portrayed using acrylics, oils, mixed
media and collages.
His untimely death in January 2005, has robbed South Africa
of one of her rare talents, and we are proud to be able to show
some of his last pieces.
