Name : Forged of earth and fire.
A tribute to the fortitude of the women of Africa
Subject : Abstracted
Size : 1400 x 530mm ( 45”x21”)
Medium : Mixed – acrylic, cements and
rust medium on mixture of hessian and primed cotton on masonite
block.
Description : Stylized female figure formed
from various panels, with a sculpted face based on a variation
of the traditional African mask. The rusted vertical panels
indicate the various times that influence life and help to
bring in the elements of the earth and it’s life force,
and the simplified masks signify those who interface with
the main character. The background running from red to yellow,
represents the growth of the women of Africa – the struggle
through to the light of fulfillment and success.
